City-based Eisai Pharmatechnology and Manufacturing Private Limited, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Eisai of Japan, is aiming to increase its production to 2 billion tablets by 2016.
"The Vizag plant has a production capacity of 2 billion tablets, but at present we are producing only 700 million tablets. In 2014-15, we are aiming to increase it to 1.2 billion and by 2016 to will be enhanced to 2 billion tablets," Sanjit Singh Lamba, president and managing director, told mediapersons.
The plant manufactures five drugs at present and plans to add two more by next year, he added. The facility is a 100 per cent export unit.
