Pune-based ElectroMech Material Handling Systems (India) Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of cranes, is planning to double the production capacity by September 2009, at an investment of Rs. 25 crore.
The company is already in the process of expanding the capacity of its existing facility at Pirangut, near Pune, and is setting up a new facility at Chennai.
“We are investing Rs 15 crore to expand our existing facility at Pirangut, which is spread over 10,000 sq metres. The expansion work will be over by this July after which the plant's capacity will go up to 2,000 cranes per year, from the present 1,200," Tushar Mehendale, managing director, ElectroMech, told Business Standard.
The company is also setting up a manufacturing facility at Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, at an investment of Rs 10 crore. This proposed facility, which is expected to be operational by Sept 2009, will have a capacity of 200 cranes per year and will be upgraded to 500. "This facility will be built on 8,000 sq metres with a built-up area of 4,000 sq metres and will manufacture various industrial cranes like single girder, double girder, stacker and goliath cranes,” said Mehendale.
For the year 2008-09, the company registered a sales turnover of Rs 150 crore, as against Rs 80.5 crore in FY 2007-08. It has set a 45 per cent growth target for the current financial year.
