Eli Lilly & Company (India) Private Limited, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Eli Lilly & Company of USA, has launched three different variations of "Humalog Mix", an insulin analog mixture for treating diabetes, here on Wednesday. |
According to company's chairman and managing director, Rajiv Gulati, Humalog, available at Rs 389 per cartridge consisting of 300 units, absorbs quickly and starts working within minutes to lower blood sugar. The three different variations of Humalog are insulin lispro, mix 25 and mix 50. |
"Eli Lilly is the only company in India to introduce Humalog mix 50," Gulati said, adding that the company was planning to launch one new product every year. So far, it had launched eight products. The company's turnover last year stood at Rs 150 crore. |
Eli Lilly of USA, a Fortune-500 company, had set up its Indian outfit initially as a 50:50 joint venture with Ranbaxy. |
In August 2001, it had bought over the 50 per cent equity of Ranbaxy to make it a wholly-owned subsidiary. |
