Emami's Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBIDTA) increased by 45 per cent at Rs 35 crore.

For the year ended 31 March, 2008, Emami's turnover increased by 13 per cent to Rs 584 crore, while net profit grew by 41 per cent at Rs 92.7 crore and EBIDTA grew by 43 per cent at Rs 99 crore.

The company recommended a higher dividend of 225 per cent at Rs 4.5 per share for 2007-08 compared to a 200 per cent dividend announced in the previous year.

Emami said that consistent growth was driven by its power brands like Navratna Oil, Boroplus Antiseptic Cream, Boroplus Prickly Heat Powder, Menthoplus Balm and other new products.

Malai Kesar Cold Cream launched in this winter season has been a super hit launch with the brand capturing 3 per cent market share immediately on launch.

EBIDTA margin for the quarter and year has improved by around 350 bps because of better cost management in procurement of materials and advertisement and promotional costs.

Emami international business: Despite appreciation of rupee against dollar by around 14 per cent, Emami's international business grew by 12 per cent during the year 2007-08, with West Asia and Africa contributing the maximum growth.

While development of new products and new markets continued, Emami put thrust on increasing distribution and penetration in existing markets and to initiate development of global brands.

Emami said, its Boroplus Antiseptic Cream is the largest selling antiseptic cream not only in India but also in Ukraine, Russia and Nepal.

Rural marketing: Emami's rural marketing strategy includes sales through its over 11000 mobile traders and 2200 small village shops covering states like West Bengal, Chhatisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Karnataka.

Collaborations with ITC e-choupals and P&T department of Maharashtra has helped increase its penetration further in rural India.

Emami realty: Another growth opportunity for Emami Ltd going forward will be its 12 real estate projects, that include IT parks, shopping malls, commercials and residential complexes, covering construction of over 60 lakh sq ft.

About 80 per cent of these projects are expected to commence in 2008-09 and completed by 2010-11.

Emami expects its real estate business to generate return of over 35 per cent year on year.
