Empee Sugars to invest Rs 100 cr in co-generation plant

Empee Sugars & Chemicals Ltd, part of the Empee Group, plans to set up a 20-MW co-generation plant and ethanol plant at an investment of Rs 100 crore.
 
Addressing a press conference, Chandra Mohan, senior vice-president, ESCL, said, "The co-generation plant coming up at Nayudupet in Andhra Pradesh is expected to be commissioned by 2007. The investment in the 20-MW plant is about Rs 80 crore, which the company plans to fund through banks loans and internal accruals."
 
It is estimated that 10 per cent of the power generated from the co-generation plant will be used for internal consumption and the remaining will be sold to electricity boards under power purchase agreement.
 
Mohan said that ESCL will have diversified portfolio model of sugar, alcohol, ethanol and power.
