This means India will supply electricity to another 600 million people by 2012 and increase the capacity from the present levels of 1.21 lakh megawatts. It is in this scenario that we intend to slot our solutions to stem revenue leakage from the system by ensuring proper billing and presenting a dashboard view of the distribution and consumption patterns."

He added that with this solution, power distribution companies will now have a high value system at their disposal at lower costs and without any upfront investments. Explaining how this solution will work, he said.

"We will host and implement the solution through the Internet. Data collection will be handled through handheld devices while billing and customer information syst-ems are handled through the Internet. We are establishing strategic partnerships with hand-held terminal manufacturers for easy adoption of our service."

He added that with this solution, energy distribution companies will have the freedom to focus on their core competencies and pursue the goal of distributing energy.
