Era Infra Q1 profit zooms 86%; plans to enter new fields

Era Infra Engineering is planning to enter two new fields of refinery and irrigation for its construction business, a top official of the company said today.

"We are planning to enter the field of refinery and irrigation, the areas till now untouched by us," Era Infra CMD H S Bharana said.

At present, the company operates in the areas of energy, equipment hiring and is engaged in construction and development of highways, airports, industrial projects and residential and commercial complexes.

The Delhi-based construction firm today reported a jump of nearly 86 per cent in its net profit for the first quarter ended June 30 to Rs 52.81 crore. It had a net profit of Rs 28.40 crore during the same quarter a year earlier.

 

Net sales of the company also rose to Rs 707.98 crore during the latest quarter of the current fiscal (2009-10) from Rs 390.93 crore of the corresponding quarter a year ago.

At present, the company has an order book of Rs 7,300 crore, Bharana added.

Shares of Era Infra today closed at Rs 138.90, up 3.43 per cent from its previous close on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
