Sports broadcaster ESPN Star Sports today announced its foray into event management in India with the launch of its on-ground division Event Management Group (EMG) in the country.
The company, which manages and promotes many sporting events around Asia, said in India PepsiCo has signed on EMG to manage on-ground events of football league Pepsi T20 Football.
"Our Event Management Group has firmly established itself across Asia Pacific with world class products designed to engage and entertain sports fans. It offers an exciting business opportunity in the India market as well," ESPN Software India Executive Vice-President Sanjay Kailash said in a statement.
The company will leverage on its international experience and create tailor made events and offer innovative marketing solutions to corporates in India, he added.
For the first project in India, ESPN Star Sports is producing and showcasing the Pepsi T20 Football tournament in a special eight episode series, the firm said.
The EMG is also managing the School Quiz 2012 where it has roped in HDFC Life as the title sponsor. While on-ground initiatives around the HDFC Life School Quiz 2012 have already started, on-air telecast of the quiz will begin on June 1, 2012, it added.
Internationally, the EMG manages and promotes sporting events around Asia such as the KIA X Games Asia, KL World 5s and Guinness 9-Ball Tour.
