Essar Steel opens office in Germany

Essar Steel, India's largest exporter of flat steel and a $5 billion company, today announced its plans to open an office in Dusseldorf in Germany on Januray 1, 2010.

Formally announcing the office opening, Malay Mukherjee, chief executive officer, Essar Steel, said, “Essar has been serving the EU market for over a decade. With this office in Dusseldorf, one of the steel and automobile hubs of Europe, we look forward to growing in this key market.” The Dusseldorf office will augment Essar’s existing sales and marketing network in USA, UAE, China, Indonesia and Thailand.

Welcoming the move, Dirk Elbers, Lord Mayor, City of Dusseldorf said, “I am really delighted about today’s announcement that Essar Steel will open its European head office in Dusseldorf on New Year’s Day. This underlines the outstanding position of Düsseldorf as a centrally situated business location in Europe. Düsseldorf offers a unique mix of first-rate infrastructure, ideal transport and air traffic connections, outstanding economic power, unique innovation capability, and internationality.", at the sidelines of his visit to Essar’s corporate office in Mumbai.
