Essilor India, Delta Lens in JV

Essilor India, the ophthalmic lens company and Delta Lens, an ophthalmic lens processing laboratory has announced a 51:49 joint venture. In this Essilor India has acquired 51 per cent stake in the company.
 
"The investment in this joint venture further demonstrates Essilor's commitment to the Indian optical market," said B Jayanth, managing director, Essilor India.
 
Things are bound to get interesting with Delta acting as a parallel channel to Essilor's distribution network, as both will co-exist in the same environment.
 
The Delta lab will maintain its independence and will continue to service its customers with its range of products. "Vipul Motani will continue to run the operations of the JV," added B Jayanth.
 
"The venture will help us upgrade our technologies and help us sell high quality products to our customers and not only can we service the customers with our own brands but we will also benefit from the association with Essilor," said Vipul Motani.
 
Essilor, the Euro 2.3 billion company has operations in 100 countries and Delta Lens has wide network in the Indian market.
 
They have processing labs in Mumbai and service the markets through their offices in Delhi and Ahmedabad.
