Europe's leading multi-lingual news channel Euronews has started beaming in India and will be available on Subhash Chandra-promoted direct-to-home (DTH) platform Dish TV. Euronews, launched on January 1, 1993 by a consortium of European public service broadcasters, reaches 155 million households across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and North and South Americas. "India is the first foray for euronews in the Asian region and we expect the market to grow in the coming time," a senior official said yesterday, as the channel started its feed on Dish TV. The tie-up with Dish TV is not exclusive and the channel will also look at other forms of delivery like cable networks as and when the demand came up. The channel airs news bulletins every 30 minutes in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. "We will be providing feed in all the seven languages and a subscriber is free to choose whatever he desires," an official of Dish TV said. |
