Jindal Steel and Power promoted Jindal Power today announced that it has roped in the former CMD of NTPC R S Sharma as its Managing Director.
R S Sharma retired as the CMD of NTPC in August this year. Before serving as the CMD of NTPC, Sharma served as Director-Commercial of the PSE major, and helped formulate long-term corporate plans for the company.
A 1971 batch Mechanical Engineering Graduate from Government Engineering College, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, Sharma started his career with the Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board. He joined NTPC in early February, 1980.
"With a rich experience of 38 years, Sharma brings with him multi-functional knowledge in the areas of operation, project implementation, corporate planning, commercial and regulatory affairs due to his long association with the power sector. His appointment will enhance the business development, expansion plans as well as ambitious growth of Jindal Power," the company said in a press release.
In addition to spending nearly 30 years of his career at various project sites, Sharma played a lot of roles at the policy level as he instrumental in preparing guidelines for setting-up the power exchange in India. He has authored a number of technical papers on various subjects of power plant operation and maintenance.
