Expanding its footprint in northern India, Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), part of the Tata Group, has signed a management contract for a hotel in Srinagar with SAIFCO Hill Crest Hotels under the brand ‘Vivanta by Taj’.

The six-acre property is located on a hill-top, 20 km away from the new airport, IHCL said in a press release.

The hotel will have 89 rooms at the time of opening, with suites and guest rooms spread out in villas.

This includes a Presidential Suite of over 2,500 sq ft and five other suites.

“We are highly appreciative of the warm response to this project by the state government. The Taj believes that Srinagar has potential to be developed as an important tourist hub,” IHCL VP (Business & Corporate Affairs) D K Beri said. “This property in Jammu and Kashmir is, for us, a meaningful step in expanding our national portfolio,” he added.

‘Vivanta by Taj’ is designed to deliver a vibrant, contemporary experience with touches of surprise and a vivacious twist. Services at Vivanta-Srinagar will consist of an all-day dining restaurant, a tea lounge and a speciality restaurant.

There are recreation facilities such as an expansive spa and fitness centre apart from large meeting and banqueting facilities and a business centre to complete the experience.

The location of the hotel will offer panoramic views of snow-clad mountains in winters, the famous Tulip Garden in summers and the Dal Lake — popularly known as the Jewel in the Crown of the Kashmir Valley.
