Exports fuel Tata Motors December sales 67%

Powered by exports to MG Rover, Tata Motors has registered a 67.3 per cent growth in its December sales. The company sold 26,253 units in December 2003 as against 15,695 in the same month of the previous year.
Tata Motors' commercial vehicle (CV) sales were up 54 per cent in December at 15,007 units compared with 9,742 vehicles in December 2002. Passenger car sales registered an increase of 33.7 per cent over December 2002.
The company sold 7,245 cars last month. Exports was the main growth-driver with the company exporting 4,001 units in December 2003, an increase of over seven times compared with its exports in December 2002.
Cumulative sales for the April-December 2003 period posted an increase of 47.5 per cent at 2,16,902 units. CV sales in the same period zoomed up 44.5 per cent at 1,04,675 units. Passenger car sales posted a growth of 42.1 per cent in April-December 2003 period.
