Ferry service from Tuticorin to Colombo

Flemingo Liners will launch its passenger ferry service between India and Tuticorin on June 13. The ferry will sail from Tuticorin to Colombo twice a week initially and take 14 hours to reach the destination. Chartered Scotia Prince ship will run this service. The 9-deck ship houses 317 cabins that can accommodate 1,044 passengers. Some of the features on board include broadway lounge, Concorde restaurant and Manhattan café, bar, disco and an infirmary.
A consortium of Flemingo Duty Free Shop Pvt Ltd and Tradex Shipping Co Pvt Ltd has been given the licence to operate the service. Other features, which will be launched soon, include casino, drive-in, drive-out facility for cars and cargo vehicles and a duty free shop inside the ship, according to a release. The basic economy room comes at an early bird offer of $49 (exclusive of taxes) and $65 (exclusive of taxes) during regular periods. Shipping minister GK Vasan will launch the service from Tuticorin.
