Festival Bonanza: Top three electronics deals

With the festival season right around the corner, e-tailers are rushing to launch their own "shopping festivals". As Amazon kicks of its 'Great Indian Festive sale' and Flipkart returns with its ‘Big Billion Days sale’, the deals are stepping beyond the usual discount limits.

However, there is a catch. Mint newspaper reports that not all discounts are always on current market prices, but on the minimum retail price or MRP, which means you are actually saving less money than what they would want you to believe.

Not that this dampens the festive shopping spirit in anyway. Here are the top electronics deals you can check out:

Laptop: HP Notebook 15-ac118tu

Rs 19,499 (Rs 23,990 before discount)

If you’re on a strict budget and still want a laptop with reasonable features then the HP 15-ac118tu is a good pick. It runs on an Intel Celeron processor and packs 4GB of RAM. Its 15.6-inch screen is perfect for home and office use. The discount deal ends at midnight.

Smartphone: Xiaomi Mi 4i (16GB)

Rs.9,999 (Rs 12,999 before discount)

If you’re looking for a budget smartphone with a good snapper and reasonable processing power then Amazon’s deal on the Xiaomi Mi 4i (16GB) is perfect for you. With a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB RAM, 13-megapixel camera, a 3120mAh battery, and a large 5-inch screen (1,920x1,080 pixels), this phone won’t let you down. The discount deal ends at midnight.

Portable storage: WD My Passport Ultra 1TB External Hard Drive (Black)

Rs 3,999 (Rs 6,930 before discount)

This Western Digital drive, with 1TB storage, is perfect for people who need to store documents, music and multimedia files. Security conscious users can set an optional password to activate 256-bit hardware encryption. The device can connect to cloud storage services and operates on the USB 3.0 standard. It comes with a pre-installed automatic backup software.
