Film Producers Guild, Federation split

 "The guild enjoys the support of 80 per cent of the film and television producers, Further, the market dynamics have also changed," Amit Khanna, the president of the Guild said.

 "Its ability to harness its own in-built strength, the presence of the who's who from the entertainment sphere as its members and its prolific vision has prompted this decision," the guild has said in a media statement.

 The guild firmly believes that many new opportunities exist for the production sector in particular and the entertainment industry as a whole. As its primary agenda for the next few months, the Guild will take initiatives to engage all the stakeholders in a constructive dialogue.

 It will also leverage the strengths of organizations like FICCI and CII to expand the market for Indian films and TV programmes. It will also fight all attempts by certain trade bodies to impose restrictive trade practices even as it looks at the new revenue streams in the fast emerging Digital World," the Guild addded.

 Some of the prominent Guild members are Aamir Khan, Amit Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, A.P. Hinduja, B.R. Chopra, Boney Kapoor, Dev Anand, Dheeraj Kumar, Feroz Khan, G.P. Sippy, Govind Nihalani,J. Om Prakash, J P Dutta, Jhamu Sugandh, Jeetandra, Kamal Kumar Barjatya, Manmohan Shetty, Rakesh Roshan, Dr Ramanand Sagar, Ramesh Prasad, Ramesh Sippy, Ronnie Screwvala, Bobby Bedi, Shakti Samanta, Shekhar Kapur, Shyam Benegal, Subhash Ghai, Sushil Kumar Agarwal, Yash Johar and Yash Chopra.
