Old wine at low price

Flipkart's new addition to the Digiflip Pro series, is a minor step forward from the largest homegrown e-commerce platform in the country. Through the ET 701, the company has tried its hand to alleviate the drawbacks of the Digiflip Pro XT712, its predecessor. The tablet, launched on Wednesday, is available only on Flipkart.

Design
The 273g-tablet is light and easy to hold. The series comes in shades of pearl white, blue, grey and red. The body appeared to be fingerprint proof, too. Watching a video or reading a book is not going to be a tedious task on the ET 701.

Display & touch
The ET 701 is equipped with a 178 mm in-plane switching display and is quite appealing considering its price of Rs 5,999. Though the touch was not impressive at first go, it did improve after using it for a couple of minutes. The tablet comes with an easy user interface. Reading an e-book on the tablet is on par with an e-reader with a resolution of 1024x600p.

Camera
One major underwhelming feature of ET 701 is its camera. Though equipped with a dual cameras, the 2-megapixel back camera isn't satisfactory. Pictures clicked were far from perfect and is a huge disappointment, especially in low-light conditions. The front VGA camera can just about handle video calls, though we weren't able to try out this feature at the launch.

Performance
The dual-core Intel Atom Processor is not going to disappoint you. The tablet is powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, with the company assuring an upgrade to KitKat. Another factor which could be disappointing is that it offers Wi-Fi connectivity only. The ET 701 could be a choice for all those customers who do not want to shell out a fortune but still long to own a decent tablet.
