Firstsource, Helios & Matheson & Phoenix Lamps Q3 results

Firstsource net down 32%

Volume fluctuations, forex impact, a loan taken for acquisitions and difficult credit environment in the US "" which affected the collections business "" impacted the net profit of pure-play business process outsourcing (BPO) firm Firstsource.

The BPO's consolidated net profit reported a dip of 31.7 per cent at Rs 20.63 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2007 from Rs 30.21 crore for the same quarter last financial year. Revenue for the quarter at Rs 382.51 crore was up 71.6 per cent from Rs 222.89 crore was registered in the corresponding quarter last year.

Helios & Matheson net up 2.45%

IT services company Helios & Matheson (H&M) Information Technology on Tuesday said that its net profit (post deferred tax) for the third quarter ended December 31, 2007, increased 2.45 per cent to Rs 15.60 crore from Rs 15.56 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year.

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, net profit was up 6.8 per cent over Rs 14.61 crore posted during the quarter ending September 30, 2007.

Phoenix Lamps registers 78% increase in net profit

Automotive and compact fluorescent lamps manufacturer Phoenix Lamps has registered a 78 per cent increase in its net profit at Rs 14.2 crore for the quarter ended December 2007, as compared to Rs 7.9 crore for the same quarter, last year.

Income from operation for the quarter increased 33 per cent to Rs 101.35 crore as compared with Rs 76.05 crore for the same quarter, a year ago.

Opto Circuits' Q3 net up 78.6%

Opto Circuits (India), the Bangalore-based manufacturer of medical diagnostics products, today reported 78.6 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 35.74 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2007 compared to the corresponding quarter of last financial year.

On a consolidated basis, the company more than doubled its sales to Rs 127.32 crore for the period compared to the same period last year.
