Flat buyers in Noida Extension have formed an association today and demanded they be made party to the cases being heard in the courts.

A few serving and retired government officials have come together to find the Noida Extension Flat-Buyers Welfare Association, and claims to have already roped in 2,000 flat buyers as members.

‘‘In all the cases which have been filed or are being filed, there is interest involved of the flat-buyers who have booked flats in these projects,’’ the association said in statement after a meeting in Noida.

While total number of flat-buyers affected in Sahberi was 6,500, nearly 1 lakh people have booked flats in Noida Extension. With other villages going to court, there’s a fear it could affect more projects.

‘‘These flat-buyers are all end users and not investors or brokers. They have raised money by selling existing properties or through loans from banks,’’ the association said.

‘‘The association has been formed to bring these facts to the notice of the Allahbad High Court that flat-buyers will suffer losses due to any decision in post-Shahbari cases,’’ it said.

The association recognised the huge amount of development work that has already taken place in Noida Extension, including roads, express-ways, parks, electrification and all other amenities. Dismantling these to make the land cultivable again will amount to loss of huge amount of public money besides creating acute housing shortage

‘‘While we want the genuine grievances of the farmers addressed, we also demand that the facts enumerated above must be considered before a final decision is taken, the association said.
