Electronics major Flex, earlier known as Flextronics, has said it is open to supporting start-ups, especially in hardware sector, in India.
Sekaran Letchumanan, head of Flex Chennai Industrial Park (CIP), said the company had been globally supporting start-ups and now wanted to do the same in India. Besides, manufacturing products for the start-up, Flex can also help them to design, in localisation, in launching the product and to find customers in certain cases.
Valerie Kurniawan, head of marketing & communications (Asia), Flex, says the company works with academic institutes globally to nurture start-ups, helping them develop and market products.
“We don't invest, unless we see there is a strategic addition. Globally, we have done it by putting some seed money,” said Kurniawan, adding that company was also open for the same in India.
