Flex open to support start-ups in India

The company globally help startups in designing, manufacturing and selling products

Flex adds new domestic area to address market demand

Electronics major Flex, earlier known as Flextronics, has said it is open to supporting start-ups, especially in hardware sector, in India.

Sekaran Letchumanan, head of Flex Chennai Industrial Park (CIP), said the company had been globally supporting start-ups and now wanted to do the same in India. Besides, manufacturing products for the start-up, Flex can also help them to design, in localisation, in launching the product and to find customers in certain cases.

Valerie Kurniawan, head of marketing & communications (Asia), Flex, says the company works with academic institutes globally to nurture start-ups, helping them develop and market products.

“We don't invest, unless we see there is a strategic addition. Globally, we have done it by putting some seed money,” said Kurniawan, adding that company was also open for the same in India.
