Australia-based Flight Centre has tied up with Singapore Airlines to sell pocket-friendly tour packages to the city-state to customers in India.

"Our alliance with Singapore Airlines is aimed to boost outbound tourism from India and offer affordable international holiday packages to our clients at a time when inflation has led to a slowdown in international travel especially among the middle-income group," said Gaurav Luthra, Head (India) Flight Shop, the leisure travel brand of Flight Centre.

The initiative comes in the midst of several airlines mulling a price hike in order to cushion themselves from rising ATF prices and would mark the celebration of the airlines launching its double daily flights to Delhi from September 1.

Meanwhile, Singapore Airlines Manager (Northern India) Manjit Grewal said, "This partnership will result in pocket- friendly packages to our customers for destination 'Singapore'. This tie-up will help enhance our value proposition to travelers across north India."

"This alliance with Singapore Airlines is the latest in the line of accomplishments of this leisure travel brand that entered the domestic market merely eight months ago," a statement from Flight shop said.

As part of the joint initiative, the two airlines have announced a 'Singapore Week' offer from August 25-31 at all Flight Shop outlets.

The offer entails a lucky draw, whose winner will be awarded a free return ticket to Singapore.

Flight Centre Ltd is Australia's biggest travel agency group. Its entry into the Indian leisure travel market under the 'Flight Shop' banner is its first international expansion in the leisure sector.

Singapore Airlines operates 58 weekly flights to Singapore from eight cities in India.
