The ACNielsen survey showed Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) market rose by 6% in FY04-05 with branded snacks being the fastest growing segment. While Ruchi Soya was the fastest growing FMCG company with a growth of 62% during the reporting fiscal, Adani Wilmar was second with a growth of 36.7%. P&G, Godrej Consumer, J&J, Dabur and Marico also recorded growth, according to the ACNielsen Consumer 360 survey. Branded snacks, which included categories like hair oil, household care and personal care, was the fastest growing segment during the fiscal followed by refined oil at 22.6% and batteries (a new entrant) with 18.1%, the survey said. ACNeilsen executive director Sujit Das Munshi (South Asia) said, "the rapid expanse in its availibility (distribution), the intensive promotional support in these categories and overall vibrance in terms of pricing and packaging have aided to the growth". |
