Upbeat over the recent discovery of high quality gas reserves at its RJ-ON/6 block near Shahgarh of Rajasthan, Focus Energy Ltd is hopeful of more successful strikes in the block.

"After the recent discovery, our other wells in the block look prospective and we are very hopeful of striking more gas in the region," said Focus Energy Chairman Ajay Kalsi.

The company is working towards further exploration and commercial exploitation of discovered gas. It will also drill deeper zones that may have even larger reserves, he added.

Kalsi said the reason for being optimistic was that the first and the second well were in very close proximity to the fifth well.

"We used the open hole drill stem test method in the fifth well whereas the second was dug by the cased holen method," he said, adding that DSP could not be carried on in the second well then.

Kalsi said the company had a minimum commitment of drilling at least 5-6 wells in the same block. "We will do much more than the minimum commitment," he added.

Billed as one of the largest ever onland gas finds in recent times, focus energy recently struck quality gas in the fifth exploratory well in its onshore Rajasthan block RJ-ON/6.

The quality of the gas is estimated as 88 to 91 per cent hydrocarbon bearing. According to sources, the estimated gas find is to the tune of 6 trillion cubic feet.
