Ferrari appoints dealerships in India for first time

Select Cars at Mathura Road in New Delhi and Navnit Motors in Andheri, Mumbai have been designated as new sales and service centres

Italian super luxury car maker Ferrari has extended its presence in India by appointing two dealerships in Delhi and Mumbai.

Select Cars at Mathura Road in New Delhi and Navnit Motors in Andheri, Mumbai have been appointed by Ferrari as their new dedicated sales and service centres, and to engage with new and existing owners in Western India.

"Ferrari enjoys a passionate and enthusiastic following in India and is firmly committed to providing a class-leading sales and after-sales service in the country", said Ferrari in a statement.

Ferrari entered the Indian auto market in 2011 with a single dealership with Shreyans Group, but the deal fell apart in April 2014. Since then Ferrari didn’t have an official importer for its cars.
 

The price of super luxury cars range between Rs 2 crore to Rs 6 crore. According to industry sources the sale of super luxusry cars in 2014 was around 110-115. According to industry experts, the enquiries of super luxury cars turning into sales have fallen by about 40-50 per cent over the past one year.

The retailing of super luxury cars in India have been a tad slow due to taxation structure in the country. The custom duty increased from 60 per cent in FY12 to 75 per cent  in FY13, which further shot up to 100 per cent  in FY14.
