Forbes Lists Premji As Richest Indian

There are more Indian billionaires in India than in the US, according to the Forbes list of richest people in the world.

Forbes magazine, which hit the newstands yesterday, has listed 538 people from 46 countries whose fortunes cross the $1 billion mark.

Their an average net worth comes to $3.2 billion and their collective worth to $1.7 trillion. This is the first time in the last 15 years that Forbes has covered everyone worth at least $1 billion.

For the seventh time in a row, Bill Gates remained on top of the list with a $58 billion fotune.

The only Indian to be included in the list of the first 100 billionaires is Wipro founder Azim Premji (rank: 42) with a fortune of $6.9 billion. Forbes calls Premji the
