UK-based manufacturer of gas and dust monitoring systems Codel International will henceforth manufacture all its prime products at the Pune-based plant of Forbes Marshall. Farhad Forbes, director, Forbes Marshall and Codel International, MD, David Coe today announced the formation of a 50:50 joint-venture company to manufacture products in Pune and market them within India and globally. The company is eyeing India and China as prime markets and plans to sell 400 gas monitors and dust analysers in the first year. The target would be 700 units for the subsequent financial year. "Companies in sectors like power generation, petrochemicals and steel manufacturing remain our clients and these sectors are growing fast in India and China. The Indian market has a requirement of around 500 units while the Chinese market would have a requirement of hundreds of such units... Forbes Marshall plans to export 15% of its products during the initial year, which might increase up to 50% in time to come, Forbes said. "Codel International will slowly and steadily move manufacturing of all its products to Pune. Our manufacturing set-up for dust monitors is ready at Forbes Marshall plant in Pimpri, Pune. The manufacturing of gas analysers would be shifted from UK to Pune in another 18 months. The company plans to manufacture all its products in Pune in years to come," Coe said. Forbes Marshall Codel, the new company will treat Pune as its centre for global sourcing and long term post-sales support. The new company also becomes the first in India to manufacture dust monitors. "We are expanding our manufacturing unit in Pimpri by 30,000 sqft with an investment of around Rs 8 crore. This facility would be utilised by the newly floated company," Forbes added. |
