Ford India has opened 28 authorised dealer facilities across 24 cities. With this, its dealership stands at 164 located in 97 cities across the country.
Of the 28 new outlets, 14 offer full 3S (showroom, sales and service) facilities, while seven are service workshops. The remaining are sales showrooms, where visitors will find a full line-up of Ford vehicles, said Nigel Wark, executive director – marketing & sales, Ford India.
Wark said the focus on small cars would be through Figo, which will be launched in March. The commercial production of the car started at the firm’s Chennai plant from February 5.
Smaller cities would play a role in the company’s strategy of becoming a key player in the Indian small car market. “'Tier II and III cities are significant for Ford. We have opened new facilities in 13 Tier III cities and more than 40 percent of Ford service outlets are now located in secondary markets,” he added.
To meet the demand, Ford India has tripled its dealer sales consultant staff from 480 in 2009 to nearly 1,500 this year.
