The Dubai-based Varkey Group has roped in Anand Sudarshan, former chief executive of Manipal Global Education Services (MaGE), to help Everonn Education Ltd draw its future plan.

Sudarshan is likely to be an external adviser to the company. The management of Everonn was taken over by Varkey last September.

Speaking to reporters after the annual general meeting of the company, Rakesh Sharma, director, Everonn Education and chief executive officer - South Asia, Gems Education, said, “We are working with some external advisers and expect the plans to be in place by December.”

Though Sharma declined to share any details, sources aware of the development said Sudarshan would be advising the group. Sudarshan who was also present at the AGM here, declined to comment.

Everonn Education is expected to come up with a detailed business plan for the company by this December.

Sudarshan who played a key role in expanding Manipal’s educational services in India and overseas, stepped down as the chief executive of MaGE this May. He however, continues to be on Manipal's board as vice chairman and director.

He was also responsible for one of the biggest cross-border deals in the education space when Manipal acquired the entire shareholding of American University of Antigua (AUA) from New York-based Greater Caribbean Learning Resources.

The other major acquisitions, in which he was instrumental was Manipal's acquisition of U21 Global, an online varsity; MeritTrac, a skills assessment and testing firm and a stake in TutorVista, an online education services company.

Sudarshan is an alumnus of NIT Trichy and IIM-Calcutta and was president of Adea International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Texas-based Adea Solutions.
