A former Gujarat High Court Justice S D Dave will preside over the merger of Reliance Industries (RIL) and Reliance Petroleum (RPL).
The Gujarat High Court today approved Justice Dave's name for chairing a meeting called by RPL over the merger process of the two companies.
Following the joint decision regarding the merger last week, RPL, headquartered in Jamnagar, had moved an application in the High Court for holding a meeting of RPL shareholders and appointment of a chairman to preside over it.
The Gujarat High Court has approved the name of Justice Dave to preside over the meeting on April 9, in which shareholders, secured creditors - Class I and II - and unsecured creditors will remain present, sources familiar with the development said.
During the meeting, a resolution regarding the merger would be put to vote and after the ballot, counting would be conducted.
Subsequently, the chairman of the meeting will prepare a report to be submitted to the High Court regarding the outcome.
