Jindal Power, a Naveen Jindal promoted company, today said former NTPC chairman R S Sharma will join the company as its Managing Director.
"In order to further strengthen its management team, Jindal Power Limited (JPL), today announced that it has appointed R S Sharma as the company's Managing Director," a company statement said.
The company, however, did not specify that from when Sharma will take charge.
A 1971 batch Mechanical Engineering Graduate from Government Engineering College, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, R S Sharma retired as NTPC Chairman on August 31, 2010. He had also held various posts, including Director (Commercial) of the company, before becoming the Chairman.
"His appointment will enhance the business development, expansion plans as well as ambitious growth of JPL," the statement added.
JPL, which has set up India's first mega power project in the private sector at Tamnar in Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh, is expanding its capacity there by setting up an additional 2400 MW thermal power plant at an investment of $2.5 billion.
