Fortis Healthcare to buy stake in Mauritius hospital

Fortis Healthcare, one of the India’s largest private healthcare companies, has joined hands with CIEL, the Mauritius-based industrial group, to jointly acquire a controlling stake in Mauritius’s largest private hospital “Clinique Darne”, according to a statement released by the company.

The stake will be jointly acquired by Fortis subsidiary along with a CIEL Group’s subsidiary company “Novelife”.

“The deal marks Fortis’s first foray internationally,” said Shivinder Mohan Singh, CEO and managing director of the company.

Fortis Healthcare was incorporated in 1996 and had acquired Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre in 2005. The Delhi-based company has operations in major Indian cities, including Delhi, Jaipur, Noida and Chandigarh.

 

CIEL Group has an annual turnover of about $310 million and is an active player in Textile, Agro-industry and investment sectors.
