Fortis net loss at Rs 18.29 crore
 
Hospital chain Fortis Healthcare (FHL) has reduced its net loss by 35.7 per cent on a quarter to quarter basis. The net loss for the quarter ended December 31, 2007, was Rs 18.29 crore as against Rs 28.45 crore for the corresponding quarter the previous year.
 
Net income for the December quarter stood at Rs 137.61 crore, marginally lower than Rs 140.6 crore in the corresponding period last year.
 
However, the consolidated total income for the nine-month period ended December 31, 2007, stood at Rs 401 crore, up by 4 per cent as against Rs 384 crore last year.
 
Sesa Goa Q3 profit surges on higher iron ore sales
 
Sesa Goa, India's biggest non-state iron ore exporter, reported that third-quarter profit more than doubled on higher sales of the raw material to Asian steelmakers.
 
Net income jumped to Rs 493 crore ($125 million) in the quarter ended December 31, 2007, from Rs 195 crore, the Panaji, Goa-based company said in an e-mail statement today.
 
Mirc Electronic PAT dips 30.6%
 
Mumbai: Mirc Electronics, manufacturer of Onida brand of consumer durables, has registered 30.6 per cent dip in profit after tax for the quarter ended December 31, 2007, to Rs 11.55 crore compared with Rs 8.88 crore in the year-ago period.
 
During the quarter, the company recorded marginal increase in net sales at Rs 393.11 crore compared with Rs 388.95 crore on a y-o-y basis.
 
The company also registered a dip in net profit for the nine months ended December 31, 2007, at Rs 28.03 crore.
