An Australian ship carrying 77,000 tonne coal has arrived at Dhamra port, which is currently operating on a trial basis. Around 55,000 tonne of coal will be unloaded at the port within next couple of days and the rest cargo will be unloaded at Haldia port, according to release by the port authorities.

The port has earlier received cargo worth 100,000 tonne, mainly coal, in September, October and December 2010. The private port is being built by Dhamra Port Company Limited (DPCL), 50:50 joint venture between Tata Steel and L&T. The port is yet to start its commercial operations. It expects the port traffic to increase further once 62-km Bhadrak-Dhamra rail link is completed.
