Future Brands, a part of the Kishore Biyani-led Future Group, is considering to set up a digital vertical with an eye on tapping the potential of the rapidly growing social media and mobile platform.

"We are looking at digital marketing and consultancy business for brand promotion and building," Future Brands, Managing Director and CEO Santosh Desai told PTI at AdAsia 2011 here.

At present, the company is undertaking some research work to understand the overall digital environment in the country, consumer behaviour and how the domain works, he said.

"Currently we are evaluating this space and on the basis of the result that will come out we might look at starting consultancy services in the digital vertical," Desai said.

He, however, added: "We will do this only if we think we can do things in a different manner and add value to brands."

Asked by when the study could be completed and how soon the company will take a decision, he did not comment.

He also did not disclose the possible investment for the proposed digital vertical but said:"There is a huge demand and interest from clients and digital is the future."

Future Brands' core business is building and promoting Future Group's internal brands, managing other's brands and also providing brand consultancy services.

Desai said the company has recently entered into a partnership with a Ludhiana-based home furnishing firm, Trident for brand management.

On the brand consultancy side, the firm has provided services to Madura Garments, Kellogs, Madison Group, he said.

While he did not share financials of the company, Desai said Future Brands has grown at 50 per cent year on year and is a self sufficient profitable company.
