GACL, Texmaco & Blue Star Q4 results

GACL net up 37% to Rs 197.97 crore
 
Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) has posted 37 per cent rise in net profit for the year at Rs 197.97 crore as compared with Rs 144.28 crore reported in the previous year. Profit before tax for the year 2005-06 increased by 9 per cent to Rs 294.68 crore from Rs 269.26 crore in the previous year.
 
The board of directors in a meeting held at Kevadia has recommended dividend of 20 per cent on 7.34 crore equity shares of Rs 10.
 
The company has achieved net sales turnover of Rs 944.11 crore for the year ended 31st March 2006 as compared with Rs 902.88 crore in the previous year, registering an increase of 5 per cent.
 
The total income, including excise duty recovered, of the company increased to Rs 1121.74 crore as against Rs 1057.17 crore in the previous year. The gross profit before interest, depreciation and taxation rose to Rs 412.52 crore for the year as compared with Rs 405 crore in the previous year.
 
The company has reported 8 per cent increase in cash profit to Rs 373.16 crore as against Rs 345.24 crore in the previous year. GACL has achieved combined production level of 11,77,491 MT in the year, showing an improvement of 4 per cent as compared with 11,31,322 MT in the previous year.
 
The capacity utilisation of company's plants at both the complex at Baroda and Dahej has been near 100 per cent or more during the year. The interest and financial charges have been remarkably reduced by 34 per cent to Rs 39.36 crore in the year from Rs 59.76 crore.
 
Texmaco net up 21% at Rs 19 crore
 
Texmaco, a K K Birla Group company, has registered 21 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 19.01 crore in 2005-06 as compared with Rs 15.66 crore in 2004-05. The turnover registered an increase of 29 per cent at Rs 392.17 crore compared with Rs 303.72 crore in the fiscal ended March 31, 2005.
 
There was an all-round improvement in the company's operations resulting in an increase of 43 per cent in gross profit to Rs 33.01 crore as against Rs 23.02 crore, and an increase of 63 per cent in profit before tax at Rs 28.08 crore as against Rs 17.18 crore in the previous year.
 
Blue Star net up 21% at Rs 25.36 crore
 
Blue Star has reported net profit of Rs 25.36 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2006, a growth of 21 per cent compared to Rs 20.8 crore reported in the previous corresponding period.
 
The company's net sales grew by 27 per cent for the period at Rs 398.16 crore, compared to the Rs 312.42 crore reported in the previous corresponding period. For the year ended March 31, 2006, Blue Star has reported a net profit of Rs 48.90 crore, a 25 per cent growth compared to the previous year's Rs 39.16 crore.
 
The company's net sales for the year grew by 28 per cent at Rs 1,174.56 crore from previous year's Rs 920.7 crore. The board of directors have recommended a stock split with each Rs 10 share being divided into five shares of face value of Rs 2 each.
