Gail India has signed a memorandum of co-operation (MoC) with Natural Gas Hydrate (NGH) AS of Norway to develop and commercialise synthetic natural gas hydrate storage and transportation technology. According to a release issued by Gail India to the BSE today, the MoC was signed by Proshanto Banerjee, chairman and managing director of Gail, and Oscar Fr. Graff, vice president of gas technology of Aker Kvaerner and Professor Jon Steinar Gudmundsson of Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in London. The scope of the MoC includes feasibility studies of natural gas hydrate transport as an alternative to conventional pipeline and LNG transport. "The possibility to set up a demonstration facility for the technology in India will be evaluated, and the parties will jointly co-operate in the development and commercialisation of the new technology," the release added. |
