Galfar, L&T bag 294.1 mn rial Oman airport contract

A consortium of Galfar Engineering & Contracting SAOG and Indian engineering major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has bagged a 294.1 million rials contract for development of the Salalah international airport in Oman.

In a regulatory filing to the Muscat Stock Exchange, Oman-based Galfar said the contract is for development of the Salalah international airport project.

"The completion period is 30 months, including mobilisation. We expect reasonable income from this project," the filing added.

Salalah is Oman's second biggest airport after Muscat. The development of the Salalah Airport aims to expand capacity at the airport to 1 million passengers by 2013.
