Gateway Distriparks today said it is expanding footprint in new geographical areas as it has acquired about 48 acres land at the Krishnapatnam Port near Nellore in Andhra Pradesh for setting up a container freight station (CFS) and warehouses.

The proposed CFS at Krishnapatnam port will be GDL's seventh and is strategically located between Chennai and Vizag ports, the company said in an exchange notification.

It is well placed to service importers as well as exporters of Andhra Pradesh, Telengana and bordering areas of Karnataka including Bangalore.

The container terminal at Krishnapatnam port has a capacity of 1.2 million TEUs per annum and has plans to go upto 6 million TEU's in the next few years.

"The container logistics sector in India has been growing with new ports developing clean cargo and container terminals. This will be our second offering to the EXIM trade of Andhra and Telangana. We will start the construction of CFS soon which will provide domestic tariff area (DTA) warehousing facility for consolidation of cargo as well as distribution solutions. This activity will complement the CFS business," chairman and managing director Prem Kishan Gupta of Gateway Distriparks was quoted as saying.
