Hyderabad-based cargo and logistics major Gati Limited plans to scout for joint venture operations abroad to achieve integrated growth.

The company set up a regional office in Singapore last week. This is the first international office that Gati has set up abroad and it is planning to set up offices in Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Myanmar in the near future also.

Speaking to Business Standard, Manoj Agarwal, head of marketing, said: "Although in India, Gati is a household name, outside India it is a relatively new brand. These moves will help us in building our sales and marketing presence abroad too." It will also help the company to develop India-centric business in the Asia-Pacific region, he added.

"We have already formed customer relations with several businesses and MNCs in Singapore and based on their feedback, we realised that Gati's strengths and capability in India could be put to good use in the Asia-Pacific region also. We will work with strategic partners that are located in the region for operational support," Agarwal said.

Gati, that set up its operations 15 years ago, today has a reach in 580 districts out of 590 in India. Gati also has tie-ups with Indian Airlines, Bhutan Post and Maldives Post for distribution purposes.

It has 27 warehouses across India occupying a total space of 1,40,000 sq ft. Its major logistics clients include Hitachi, Pantaloons, Ford and Ranbaxy.
