Gautam Adani meets Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in Chennai

Compensatory tariff to Tata & Adani Power: Case goes back to square one

Adani Group’s Chairman Gautam Adani on Thursday met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at her office today in Chennai.

While Adani didn't speak to the media outside the Chief Minister's office and government officials were not available for comment immediately, DIPR has said that it was a “courtesy call by Adani”. Rajesh Adani, managing director of Adani Group, was also present during the meeting.

During the meeting, Adani and the Chief Minister also discussed Adani Group's solar power plants at a cost of Rs 4,536 crore in Ramanathapuram district with a capacity of around 648 mega watt (MW) and potential investments in the state for the group.
 

Earlier, Adani had said that Tamil Nadu offers tremendous potential for the Group. Already, the company is setting up a 650 MW solar plant which will be the largest in the world.

"We are now investing in port and non-renewable power projects (thermal) and we are looking at investing around Rs 15,000-20,000 crore in the state," said Adani earlier.

Adani Group has set up a container terminal project at Ennore Port and acquired a Port from L&T near Chennai.
