Ten out of 13 members of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) have moved a no-confidence motion against its chairman Parthi Bhatol, which will be discussed in a requisition meeting on August 21.

“A requisition meeting has been convened on August 21 to discuss the no-confidence motion against the federation chairman Parthi Bhatol, moved by 10 directors of affiliated dairies of federation,” a GCMMF official told PTI. Murky politics in Asia’s largest milk collector — GCMMF — has earlier taken toll of its managing director B M Vyas, who resigned in June.

Some of the board members wanted the federation’s chairman Parthi Bhatol to step down, while he is determined to complete his second term, sources said.

The federation has director of 13 district dairies in Gujarat on its board, of which ten had moved a no-confidence motion against the chairman in March this year.

However, none of the directors of the district dairies have so far divulged the reason behind this move. “Federation chairman and managing director have brought GCMMF in a ICU situation, which is alarming,” Mehsana Dairy director Vipul Chaudhary told newsmen, after the federation’s AGM meet today. “We shall again gather here on August 21 to discuss the no-confidence motion against the chairman,” he said.
