GD Group opens luxury hotel in B'lore

City-based GD Group, which has interests in education, real estate and IT, has forayed into the luxury hospitality sector by opening a four-star hotel in Bangalore on Friday.
 
The new hotel "" Solitaire "" with 99 rooms and suites has been built with an investment of Rs 25 crore. According to Balaji, director, GD Group, more hotels are being planned in the city near the new international airport complex and Whitefield in the city.
 
At present, the Group also operates two budget hotels in the city. "The two more hotels planned will be commissioned in the coming days," he added.
 
The GD Group runs the Sapthagiri College of Engineering in Bangalore. It has also forayed into the BPO segment with GD Data Technologies Pvt Ltd. Its another subsidiary Srinivasa Granites has been exporting granite since 1982 to various countries.
 
"Hospitality is a booming sector in India. There is tremendous opportunity for growth in the city, which is facing shortage of rooms. Therefore, we decided to expand our base," Balaji stated.
