General Motors India today reported total sales of 7,124 units for July, up 45 per cent from that in the same month last year.
The July sales comprised 2,244 units of the Chevrolet Spark, 1,722 units of Chevrolet Beat, 1,546 units of the Chevrolet Tavera, the company said in a statement.
During the month, the company also sold 639 units of the sedan Chevrolet Cruze, mid-sized sedan 375 units of Chevrolet Aveo, premium compact car 240 units of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, 225 units of SUV Chevrolet Captiva and 133 units of mid sized sedan Chevrolet Optra, it added.
"The increase in the sales was primarily driven by the response to Chevrolet Beat, Cruze and Spark," it said.
Commenting on the July performance, GM India P Balendran, Vice-President, said, "There were some delivery constraints for certain models in July due to annual maintenance shutdown of the plant. With the operation back to normal, we should be able to clear the backlog this month."
