Next time you want to service your motorcycle in Bengaluru, you need not take it to the local mechanic, take a half-day off to monitor it or leave the bike for the day. Just make a call or fill a form on an app, and a mechanic will come and fix it at your doorstep in 90 minutes, and for 30-40 per cent less than what your local mechanic charges. Drivojoy, the Bengaluru-based start-up that offers this service, raised Rs 4 crore from a clutch of investors led by Indian Angels Network last week.
Its sale is affordability and convenience. Nearly 80 per cent of bikers attend while it is serviced, as they don't trust the garage on spares and what they bill. It hopes to win customers' trust by educating them and with transparent pricing. It has unveiled an app for mechanics, which they can use to navigate through maps, chat with customers and upload snapshots of replaceable parts. It is working on a consumer app, which will allow users to make one-touch booking or seek breakdown assistance.

Stared in August 2015, Drivojoy has served about 2,000 users. It services nearly 400 motorcycle a month and is growing at 25-30 per cent a month. The start-up makes money through margins on spares and a cut on labour charges. As volumes grow, it would like to pass on some of its margins, which can be as much as 25-30 per cent on engine oil or batteries. Drivojoy, which operates in four-five areas of Bengaluru, hopes to scale up within the city and perfect its technology and business model before it expands to new cities.
