Ghari Ind to foray into agricultural research

The company has decided to set up a laboratory for its research and development purposes and will come out with the product in near future.

"We are working on an agro-forestry model wherein we will conduct certain tests, to develop better quality seeds, in the lab and then will check it in fields," S A Khan, advisor (agriculture division), Ghari Industriues told Business Standard.

 

The company has identified about 25 villages in Kanpur Dehat and will start the project in next three months.

"We are looking for a suitable NGO, which will help us in the research and development. Besides that we also want to prepare organic manure for the fields. All this is being done to ensure better quality and high returns to the farmers," Khan added.

Ghari has envisaged an initial investment of Rs 1 crore for the establishment of laboratory. The company is also keen on providing land to the farmers. The farmers would be allowed to use the land for their purpose.

"We want to encourage farmers to try economically viable options. This will enhance their income and will take up the issue of global warming. We will also try to find out its reasons and solutions," he added.
