GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), which runs the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad, is expecting to handle 100,000 tonne of cargo within a year, according to a senior company official. The airport has recently crossed the 80,000-tonne mark.

“Currently, we are seeing around 7,000 tonne of cargo leakage from the airport’s cargo terminal, which is going to other states due to unavailability of cargo facility,” Hemanth DP, chief operating officer (airports sector) of GHIAL, told mediapersons in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Hong Kong-based international air cargo carrier, Cathay Pacific, on Thursday opened its 5th freighter port service at Hyderabad with two weekly freighter services.
