GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), the developer and operator of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad here, will start levying user development fee (UDF) of Rs 375 each on all domestic outbound passengers from August 22.
GHIAL has received approval to this effect from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
The company stated in a press release that the UDF would be collected at the airport before issue of boarding pass from all those passengers who have not been charged the fee as a part of the ticket issued to them by airlines or agencies.
According to GHIAL chief commercial officer Viswanath Attaluri, the levy of UDF has become necessary in view of the huge investments made by the developers of the greenfield airport.
The first phase of the airport involved an investment of Rs 2,478 crore.
The collection of UDF is also part of the business plan approved by the ministry prior to the commissioning of the airport operations, he said.
The domestic and international passenger traffic from the new airport in the past three months stood at 1.3 million and 390,000 respectively.
