Gionee, the Chinese mobile manufacturer which is looking to expand its global operations, introduced its new smartphone, the S8 at the Mobile World Conference 2016.
The S8 concentrates on photo and video features, with 3D Touch in the mix. The 16-megapixel (MP) rear camera uses RWB technology in place of the conventional RGB and has an aperture of F1.8. The phone sports a front camera of 8MP.
The S8 also comes with upgraded camera software, Image+ 2.0, and a selfie-enhancing software called the Full Skin Beauty function which can alter skin colour. It also features text recognition — a feature which allows users to share actual text from articles through photos.
The phone lets the user “touch”, “tap” and “press” in 3D touch and runs Amigo 3.2 OS, which is based on Android 6. The phone comes with a 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal memory and a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display.
