Global Weighing India, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Sartorius group, Germany is replicating in India the unique model of its parent company in contract manufacturing and operating without a manufacturing facility to produce weighbridges.
"Our contract manufacturing model is based on our own design, brand, supply of components, site erection and commissioning. By outsourcing various parts of manufacturing saves us on overheads that a manufacturing facility has and gives us the flexibility to operate in any part of India," Hemant Karandikar, managing director of Global Weighing India said.
The contract manufacturing concept also enables Global Weighing to deliver the product to its customers at a much faster pace as outsourcing saves on time as the company focuses on the commissioning of the project.
"We focus on ensuring that weighbridges can be erected and commissioned timely with a high level of quality in it," Karandikar said.
Global Weighing India's weighbridges range from 20 tonne to 120 tonne capacities in various sizes. It is a leading player in process industries like food and beverages, personal care, cement and steel and infrastructure segments like roads, storage and distribution.
The company has introduced new generation electronic weighbridges range of "Super GWT Weighbridges" based on the Star weighbridges load cells from GWT Hamburg.
As a result of the introduction of the new generation weighbridges, the company has decided to discontinue its earlier models.
Even though the company has decided to discontinue its old electronic models, Global Weighing will provide upgradation of its existing installation. But the target will of the company will be for new weighbridges.
The domestic market size of electronic weighbridges is estimated at 800 units per annum worth approximately Rs 60 crore per annum. Avery has a major share of the market with Global Weighing having 8 per cent of the pie.
Global Weighing has decided to focus on the north Indian market, particularly the mandis in Punjab and Haryana where a large market awaits for the company as huge stock of food grains movement needs accurate weighing.
